Action pnum891 Last 25 Messages Transmitted Log Impose A Security Transaction Excise Tax So Wall Street Pays For Its Own Bailout ********** [090355:020609] b.e., Bremerton, WA This tax existed until 1966. With the demise of manufacturing in this country, it is time for the financial speculation industry assume its tax obligations. ********** [150526:110108] E.H., Justice, IL Anything coming from the Bush Admin Stinks, bit something coming in a bolt of lightening demanding immediate action has to be a coverup of some kind if crime eminating from Bush Cronies, plain old Reeks. Stop the panic and investigate, then investigate the investigators, I watched the hearings and they were a sham and they get a two week break in between. Hit em hard and fast before they start shredding. This government needs " CHANGE". ********** [045951:101708] R.S., Portland, OR The Citizens of this nation are now stock holders in major private corporations. Those running the corporations are leaving with millions of dollars for their failure. This is crazy. You know it. There is too little oversite. We must find a sure way for citizens to get out banking. Make those who made out like bandits pay for their own rescue. That is what we do with criminals and it's painless and simple and WILL WORK. Right now, everyone who voted for the bailout is being made a fool of by those bailed out. They want your money and to keep on as they have in the past. They made the mess. Make them clean it up. It's the basic rule of life you learn at 4 years old. Do not threaten every other important aspect of this nation by throwing our money at them. Make them pay. They can do it. It will work and you will be heros! Make them Pay. It's Right, It's Simple and IT WILL WORK!!! ********** [080134:101408] B.M., Los Angeles, CA This is not our fault. Let those bloated bags who caused the mess pay for it. ********** [054158:101208] H.B., Bernalillo, NM To whom it may concern: Wall Street should pay for it's own mistakes, rather than punishing the American people, who are already maxed beyond reason due to this illegal and immoral war, the plummeting economy, and the exorbitant gas prices. The government has been taking advantage of its citizens blatantly for the last eight years and Wall Street has been allowed to conduct its business unregulated and unchecked. Our meager funds should not be extorted for this purpose. ********** [125934:101108] s.k., Canon City, CO The government had this tax for many years, and then eliminated it it 1966. Let them pay for it. Japan and many countries have this tax and have had bailouts-but it's paid for. ********** [102628:100708] K.P., Cedar Falls, IA I agree with you that the people that are responsible for this financial disaster should have to pay the taxpayers back with interest. The middle class is getting hit hard by all this corruption. They should at least get some kind of security from people like the Wall financiers who do these things. ********** [080501:100708] A.C., Pensacola, FL NO BAILOUTS!! This will not solve the crisis - we need strict regulations, investigations and levy a fine, tax, whatever on those who benefitted to bail out the market. ********** [034052:100708] C.W., Franklin, IN It would be a criminal act to allow the bankers to exit with multi-million dollar "Golden Parachutes!" Let's help the homeowners, and prosecute the unethical realtors and bankers. ********** [190251:100608] H.S., Hopkins, MN Short term profits and overweening greed are the results of deregulation. Hardworking Americans (not part of the top 3% who have benefited from the economic policies of the past 8 years) have seen their home values decline, their incomes stagnate, their retirement savings plummet and have lost their hopes of sending their children to college without amassing giant debt. Wall Street (NOT the taxpayers) should pay for its own bailout! ********** [150517:100608] J.K., Provincetown, MA Wall Street speculators must pay for their own "bailout". No one bailed me out when I went bankrupt--and I didn't even have the money to file anyway. I was just out on the street. ********** [082213:100608] K.M., Canon City, CO Take away all the CEO perks and pay to help pay for this mess!! They and Washington created this mess. ********** [063121:100608] J.M., Landenberg, PA The bailout will only exacerbate the problem while transferring more wealth from the poor to the rich. We have been deceived and robbed again by the government. We need to start enforcing the Constitution. ********** [052514:100608] e.t., Glendale, CA Now that the bill is passed, European and Asian markets are crashing. I am completely disgusted with Congress and am an Independent who voted for Democrats in 2006. Any Democrat or Republican in California who voted for this bill will not get my vote again. If necessary, I will vote Libertarian in the future as I am fed up with both corrupt parties. ********** [035717:100608] P.K., Paulsboro, NJ What are our senators and congressmen doing? In our representative government, whose interests are they representing? It seems to me that those responsible for the current financial situatuation are the ones to most bennifit from this bail-out. What our representatives need to do is focus the resolution of the problem on those who manage the finacial institutions that are at center of this crisis instead of relying on those arogant and greedy managers for direction. My voting will certainly effected by how our national interests are served on this issue. The preportions of this crisis will not be swept under, or be misdirected by corporate media. We must think for ourselves and vote accordingly. ********** [232727:100508] G.R., Portland, OR DO NOT bail out these reprehensible greedy thugs! They should be made to pay 1/4 of 1% on each transaction they make to make recompense for the horrible mess they have left the American taxpayer to clean up. I cannot believe the representatives WE elected are going to make US pay for this putrid pile of incredibly stupid stock transactions which have made them rich as Croesus and plunged our economy into a never-ending hole. Just remember: When the people fear their government, there is tyranny When the government fears the people, there is liberty **Thomas Jefferson ********** [224826:100508] E.H., Portland, OR I am totally against a bailout that doesn't place the responsibility on the one's that caused it...Wall Street and wealthy bankers, not the American Public. DO NOT vote anything that puts additional burden on the American Tax Payer!!! ********** [202446:100508] M.D., Marathon, FL Wall Street got themselves into this mess by being greedy and out of control. I have no sympathy. Let supply and demand take us where we need to go. There will be chaos at first but in the long run things will stabilize and be stronger. We should not be such a cashless society living pay check to pay check and depending on credit. It doesn't take much to bring this kind of an economy down. People should save more and not live beyond their means. Michael Dinneen ********** [193011:100508] D.B., Honolulu, HI Allow financial industry corporations to fix problems they created via M and A, buyouts, issuing preferred stock, changing their business models, hiring turnaround specialists, replacing incompetent executives, etc. There is already ample liquidity for qualified business and individual borrowers. We will only prolong the recession if we provide easy qual. loans to unqualified businesses and individuals, most of whom would default - creating more worthless junk bonds and derivatives. Broaden programs and funding for education and career counseling, which will expand the pool of qualified borrowers. ********** [175151:100508] L.H., Tishomingo, OK Dear Keepers of our future, Those who profited from the failed businesses on Wall Street are the ones who should pay for their own bailout. If one of committed such a crime, we would be indicted, have our property seized, and be condemned, not bailed out and given a large amount of money. I say we take their money and property and use it to help stabilize the economy. While we have been working two jobs to continue to survive, they have been traveling, purchasing yachts. I do not want to bail them out. With concerns for our America, our once innocent young country, Linda Hogan ********** [171830:100508] m.g., Belvedere Tiburon, CA To Whom it may Concern: .... As a taxpayer and a pacifist, I've been livid for 8 straight years that my MONEY, ... my tax dollars, are paying for carnage, hatred-building and other war activities, ESPECIALLY since the commander in chief/thief is a drunk, chicken-hawk loser who stole both his 'elections.' And now that the LOSER IS FINALLY about to be thrown out of town, THANK GOD!@!!!!!, ... he pulls this on us and you folks in congress cave like a deck of cards on a windy day. UNBELIEVABLE! YOU MAKE THEM PAY FOR THIS! YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE ONE RED CENT OF MY UNBORN Greatgrandchildren's tax dollars to pay for this, capiche? Signed, Margot the livid taxpayer.... (P.S. ... Those neocons didn't want regulation or government to interfere, ... so you shouldn't have interfered!!! LET THE BANKING SYSTEM OF THE WORLD FALL APART!!! WHO NEEDS WHO BABY! They need US, not viceversa... JEsus, GROW SOME F--KING BALLS!!!!! ) ********** [171640:100508] W.L., Rougemont, NC Quit selling us down the river spending money that could be used elsewhere. We are tired of being raped financially by you. Do your job and get it done resposibly without the American public paying for things they didn't do! ********** [163235:100508] A.M., Boulder, CO This bail out is an absolute disaster. The dollar will now deflate and plummet unless the money comes from the wealthiest 1% because the only other way to get it would be to print it. After the market heard the bail out went through it went down. Now that it has passed the representatives should make sure that it goes to buy mortgages for pennies on the dollar and pass that savings on to the homeowners. Also this savings should go to homeowners only, investors need to pay the full amount. Keeping people out of foreclosure should take precedence over equity. Then maybe many more people in America can once again have the American dream of homeownership. ********** [133511:100508] K.E., Hillsboro, OR The U.S. Congress and Senate should feel ashamed for failing the citizens they are supposed to represent. Passing Paulson's bailout of the very elements that caused our economic problems was a pathetic, fear-based reaction to manipulative and unethical behavior of President Bush and his administration. We the People did not elect those in Congress to fold under pressure, nor did we elect them to jump for a few special treats in return for their compliance to corporate-class raiders of the American Dream. Those in the House and the Senate who voted yes on Paulson's criminal bailout plan will not be win their positions back in future elections. They will be held responsible by the voters and our only weapon of electoral politics. ********** [101834:100508] M.C., Allegan, MI Americans Now that the Democratic Congress, and President Bush have Sold Us Out, Lied, Bribed and Threatened the Other Members, of Congress, with Marshall Law if they didn't pass the Bailout Bill for the Rich Fat Cats who can not Manage their own Money or Business, We have to Pay for it. That Money may very well go Over Seas to bail out Forgien Co's. How much longer will You keep Your head in the sand, while America Falls apart? The 2 Parties are so Corrupt, and a lot of the Congress. We Need to Vote them All out. We are not better off and never will be with with either of these 2 Parties in Control of Our Lives. Please Vote for anyone but either of them. Our Goverment should Fear We the People, Not the People Living in Fear of their Government. I'm sure it Scares People to think what they would do with out the Gov. Helping them, Study on that, read about it, Things would be Much better in the Long Run with out Big Gov/Brother in Our Lives. Freedom comes with a Price. but a Worthy one. Marian. ********** |
